Dr. Boyce Watkins explains on CNN that the Michael Vick case was due, in part, to a broad bias against black male athletes. This form of racism is very subtle and it angers white americans to hear about it. But Dr. Watkins is not surprised, in light of America's history and tradition of racism. Dr. Watkins was one of the people that helped Rev. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton get Don Imus off the air after he referred to the Rutgers Women's basketball players as "Nappy Headed Hoes". Dr. Watkins has appeared on ESPN, CNN, BET, Fox News, CBS and other networks fighting for racial equality. He and Al Sharpton appeared on The Wendy Williams Experience in New York, and Watkins has also gotten into powerful feuds with Bill O'Reilly of Fox News (The O'Reilly Factor) and Sean Hannity of Hannity & Colmes. He has appeared with Michael Eric Dyson many times, The Rev. Jesse Jackson and other African-Americans fighting for equal rights for black people. Watkins was one of the first to bring the Jena 6 case to light in national media, and he also was the one who gave Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson the idea to attack Don Imus' corporate sponsors.
