Whenever most people in the United States hear the word "Thailand" they immediately think "Bangkok and Prostitution." Although, the problem does exist, this is NOT what Thailand is all about. The American media always paints a seedy picture of this beautiful country in a bad light. There are countless things to do in this wonderful country versus seeking prostitutes. Most Thai people look down on this embarrassment and are sickened that the world looks upon their country in this way when they have so much more to offer travelers. Thais also stress that prostitution is against the law there. I have spent the past 3 summers in Phuket, Krabi and the Phi Phi Islands (Where the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo de Caprio was filmed) in Thailand. I see families, couples and many people enjoying the wonderful sights and countryside of Thailand. In fact, Phuket is where most Australian families go for vacation year after year. It is like the "Caribbean" is to us for them. I will once again be spending my summer there in a few weeks.
